Morrowind... *very good*

There's about 100 minor quests, unrelated to anything....

Then there's a dozen or so guilds to join, each with their quest tree...

There there's the main plotline quest...

Oh and you can beoome a vampire and then get to do the vampire quests...

And if you get the game of the year edition (ie with the expansions, as if it wasn't big enough already) how about catching lycanthropy instead and being a werewolf.

Or, perhaps you're not interested in the quests, but just want to wander the lands investigating the 1000's of locations in search of ph4t l3wt.

It's *big*.

I'll hold off on mentioning there's a toolkit with it and hundreds of community created expansions/mods/enchancements as well...

Oh... I just did.

Shame it's not multiplayer :/

Morrowind's a terrific game. I became thoroughly obsessed with it at one point. I've beaten it several times (although not the Bloodmoon expansion yet).

Definately join House Hlallu as you get the sweetest estate made. The others are kinda crappy...

It can be bug prone however. I'm currently on a vampire quest that is buggy as they won't give me my next mission, which sucks since I kind of need it to un-vampire myself.

The way it works is you become a vampire and everyone (aside from other vampires) pretty much hates your guts. So every other quest is sort of put on hold while you interact in vampiric politics. It's fun because you become uber-powerful and look all undead and whatnot, but it sucks because your interaction is so limited. But by reading walkthroughs I discovered that after you beat the vampire missions you eventually find a cure for vampirism, at which point you can continue the main quests (or whatever side quests you were engaged in).

So if I can't finish this damned quest because of the bug, I can't un-vampirize myself, ie I can't beat the game as a vampire! So...I'm faced with having to either restart (50 hours in? I think not!) or lose a good 5 hours by going back to before I turned into a vampire. Blah.

Cure for Vampirism:

There's a book written by a Bouyant Armiger which tells how to do it.

I've seen two copies of it... but I can only remember that one of them is in Kagrenac's Library which is one of the Red Mountain Citadels (I forget which). There's another copy somewhere...

All the hints/cheats/walkthroughs you'll ever need @

http://www.uesp.net

All you ever wanted to know about Vampires on Tamrial at the Imperial Library (along with all the Elder Scrolls Lore and Background you can eat).
You can unvamp yourself without finishing the vampy quests, I think.

The Telvanni Stronghold as given in the game does kind of suck... but being a productive Archmagister, I cast a few spells and built a few buildings (and installed the following plugins)

I just started the first expansion... pretty cool. Nice to get a change in scenery.

But what I really like is all the people there addressing me as Archmagister, instead of some generic sample they use in the main game...

Tromador
Archmagister of House Telvanni
Grandmaster of Morag Tong
Guildmaster of Fighters
Patriarch of the Temple of Vivec
Knight Errant of the Imperial Legion
etc.... great game for collecting badges...

Yeah, my FIRST character was basically King of Vvardenfell, but everyone still says "Leave me be outlander."

Currently the king is a chap named Helseth, but I have a feeling he's for the chop. As the Nerevarine and Incarnate, it's my duty to deal with miscreants... muahahahaha

Has anyone actually played a Dunmer character? Do they still call you Outlander and shout "N'WAH!" When they run over to attack?

Yeah actually they do. Apparently, there's internal species racism. Sad really.

Yeah, the King isn't even the game...he lives in Cyrodill City or whatever. Urelius Septiem or whatever his name is. You never even see him. You DO however meet (and in my case kill >:) ) the living God Vivec
