He remembered Darius' face, saw him sitting behind his great desk, the master of manipulation and device and mentor to Sorenti's young cousin Paladin. Sorenti had read Paladin's letters of how Darius had taught him quicker than his own sire, how he had known Darius knew what he was saying before he said it and the great respect Paladin had for him. That was truly a noble Ventrue.
The desk in his mind altered and shortened, becoming mahogany instead of marble....and the figure behind it grew taller and physically more imposing...the single malt whisky on the desk...Sorenti could taste it now, feel the ring on his finger, then the respect, love and loathing all at once for the Ventrue behind the desk. Respect for his honour and position, love for him as a brother....and loathing for the poisoned vein in him instilled by a woman who tore his loyalty from his clan. The room distorted and the figure rose from the chair, losing height and adopting a far more graceful air, the fine suit becoming like a Catholic schoolgirl's skirt and blouse, the stunning red hair falling like a waterfall over her shoulders. At her neck hung a locket, reflecting the light hiding his own blood within it.....an eternal part of him, should she ever need him....given to her when she was a mere girl and now adorning the fabled Prince. As the sun's warm light crept up his body, the beautiful lady's skirt lengthened and darkened rapidly, the red hair disappearing upwards, becoming black and short, the face altering, a deadly hint behind the eyes, void of true emotion through excessive training. She had come to him for help in matters of which she had no knowledge as her training and clan forbade it....though Sorenti knew her to be emotionally defunct, he couldn't help but find her strangely alluring. As the female figure turned towards him, she was no longer there, in her place stood a young man, proud and defiant, the look of wealth and refinement oozing from his very presence. Sorenti saw his only true childe in the same light he had first met him....his hair perfect as always, as was his suit, the charming smile and confident air made Sorenti smile even now. But as he saw himself move to greet his childe, the hair went blonde and long, the suit became an almost formal skirt, blouse and suit jacket. As the sunlight crept up Sorenti's body, he saw her eyes shining brightly at him, full of love, passion and excitement, her blonde hair laying on her shoulders as if put there by an angel. His heart leaped for joy at just seeing her, the rubies he had given her hung at her neck, a drop of his blood inside each one, his ring on her finger....they were soon to be wed.....though as the knowledge that that day would never come resurfaced, blood tears streamed down Sorenti's face.... |

Sorenti heard the phone behind him jump into life as it squawked out it's ringing tones. The pain was almost unbearable and with his thoughts momentarily distracted, Sorenti realised he had forgotten about Gabriel. With a conscious effort, Sorenti shut off all his telepathic and empathic connections to Gabriel, realising just how selfish he had been in making Gabriel feel what he did.
As he concentrated and formed a complete mental and physical block from Gabriel, Sorenti screamed with the fire of the sun's touch. He fell to his knees in front of the window and ripped his shirt from his body, baring his naked flesh to the sun's kiss... |

Gasping for breath Gabriel collapsed to the ground, the pain finally subsiding...did that mean Sorenti was...? Gabriel choked on his own fear and leaped to his feet gazing at the massive study door.
Foolishly and perhaps already knowing what the result would be, Gabriel yanked on the handle. Locked of course....his adrineline kicked in and send vitae surging through his veins. His strength and speed doubled...then tripled...until finally he was bursting with the life of others. "SORENTI!!!!" Gabriel screamed as he threw his shoulder into the door as hard as he could. "SORENTI OPEN THE DOOR!" His howls echoed down the hallway, only interupted by the hollow THUD! of his shoulder slamming against the door. Gabriel fell to the floor, the marble cold on his hands. Dead muscles never tire. Within a second he was on his feet again, staring at the door through eyes of blood. The soft drip of vitae hitting the floor entered his ears. Using all his might he slammed into the door once more, but it gave no signs of caving...... |

Cain looked at the phone in his hands and hung up. He wondered why no one answered. Was the Prince in trouble. He shook his head no that was not possable. The guards would have notified him of any intrusions so the Prince was more than likely safe and just not answering his phone. Cain sighed and put pen to paper and wrote a quick short note.
Sorenti Drain has gone missing. Batgirl and some others have gone to find him. Thought you might want to know. Cain Cain called in a guard and handed him the note. "Deliver this to the Prince and take a few others with you just to be sure as this is very important." The guard noded and headed for the door. As he walked he signaled 2 others to accompany him. They proceded in silance to the Prince's Haven. Upon ariving they noticed Gabriel's car and driver out front. They knocked politly and waited. Sorentie's butler opend the door saw who it was and steped aside. He had gotten used to the silent ones as he thought of them. They were always around now and stayed out of the way so it mattered little to him. The one in the lead held up a note as if to ask where to take it. The Butler motioned twordes the study. Just then the guards heard screams come from that direction. They lept into action drawing various weapons from unseen locations and quickly headed for the sound of the disturbance. As they came down the hall they say Gabriel trying to break down the door to the study. The lead guard noded to the others and they quickly moved to restrain Gabriel ........ |

Painfully, but quickly, Gabriel removed his black overcoat and tossed it on the floor. His shoulder was pulsating with a rythm that threatened to drive him insane. Gabriel backed up and threw his shoulder into the solid oak door once again, letting out a strained grunt as he did so.
As he steadied himself once more, the blood sweat poured down his body causing his clothes to stick to every muscle. His ears picked up several footsteps approaching from the hallway. Gabriel swung his head to accomadate a better view of the arrivals. Three Assamite guards proceeded towards him at an alarming rate. "Wait! I am Gabriel O'Brien, Childe of the Prince! He is in trouble...something's not right...his study is locked..." Gabriel gasped. The lead Assamite guard read Gabriel's aura and nodded to the others. "We've GOT to get that door down NOW!" Gabriel said, rushing his words out. The Assamite lined up beside Gabriel and began throwing their shoulders into the door. Shaking his head clear of the cobwebs, Gabriel resumed his assault on the massive structure. He could see the wood being slowly cracked and worn away...... |

The sun burnt Sorenti fiercely, it's heat and the pain from it was so intense and so pure, it was almost erotic. On the edge of losing consciousness, Sorenti pitched forwards onto the soft carpet. A dark smoke hung in the room like a fog in London, Sorenti writhed on the floor in agony but managing to turn onto his front, putting his unburnt back to the sun and shivering as his chest felt like ice out of the heat.
The walls of darkness began to close in and Sorenti struggled to stay awake. He focused his mind on Ivy's face as he saw her image kneeling in front of him. He reached out to her, desperate to touch and hold her once more, but as his hand should have connected, she was no longer there. Sorenti's arm dropped to the floor, disheartened by Ivy disappearing and not having more strength. As it landed on the carpet, it struck something hard. Sorenti strained his eyes to make out what it was. He brought it in front of his face and as he did so, an image of Reannag flashed through his head. Thinking of Reannag, Sorenti instinctively flipped the small object over and pushed the singular button on it. Sorenti faintly heard a bashing sound coming from his door and wrenched his neck to see what it was as he lost consciousness. Behind him, the electronic shutters touched the ground softly with a whisper of hydraulics. The room was drowned in darkness, the air conditioning units slowly stopped their whine, from working to combat the heat of the sun, and the filters began to make headway against the smoke. But to all of this, Sorenti was completely oblivious... |

The Assamite reared back in pain as his shoulder bone crunched into pieces.
"KEEP GOING!" Gabriel bellowed, "WE'RE NEARLY THERE!" The door that stood at Sorenti's study bore a large crack now, that rose up the center of it. Gabriel took aim, and threw himself into it. There was a sickening snap as the door fell in twain. Gabriel found himself on the plush carpet, the thick smell of smoke around him... |
