Frank, EVE was released about 2-3 weeks ago. I was on the Beta test and it was a lot of fun.

However, it's one of those games which will suck me in and eat my life to the detriment of all things, so I didn't buy it.

You've met my housemate, if you start playing, join the Minbatar and I'll tell him to invite you into the local Coporation.

Batty, I play NwN multiplayer all the time. Just started the last Dreamcatcher module with my usual sidekick, Lady Cyrillyn. The Dreamcatcher series shows what can be done with NwN custom content... underwater adventures... dive bombing ships a-dragonback... (it's been worth downloading about 60 MB (zipped) of extra content).

I dunno about doing Vampire stuff with NwN though, I think it *could* be done, but would likely be somewhat limited in scope for disciplines as the magic system isn't designed for it. Major rewriting of all the scripts would be required, large hakpak, new models, new tilesets, new maps. Doable... but months of work.

Having said that, if there is demand for it, I am quite willing to donate some CPU time from the dedicated NwN server I have hidden on my high speed office Internet connection and we could enjoy some good old fantasy RP.

I am of the opinion that joining any of the persistent worlds is going to be pretty much like joining one of the RP guilds was like in the old game... I used to be on the team that wrote one of the big mods for NwN and that got all political and annoying.

For me, that's a no thanks. Been there done that, love you all, but I'm not going there again. I don't want to end up sucked into a mire of political crap, the kind we've now put behind us....

What I enjoy massively is just playing the adventures with people I know. No persistent world politics, who is in charge and wotnot, just a party of characters heading out to save the fair monster in distress from the ravening damsel (or whatever).

Exactly, in fact, as though we had got together at someone's house and were rolling dice, the only difference being we are all 1000's of miles apart.

I know there's a few other NwN players here, Mora plays and Baatorian (who I see has registered... muahahah... been a long time). Both Baat & I have done some online DMing. If there are more players, who want to online RP, I'm sure we can sort something out.

NwN is quite a good game to role-play, been playing on it for quite some time now, its been a good 3 months now that we've been working on vampiric related stuff for it, which as of now the product of it is really interesting, tho yeah its true that there are a lot of ppl whom on there just as in vtmr back then makes things so fucking political and complicated but thats a problem that can be avoided if finding the right ppl, which requires some time of searching, personally I didnt encounter any problems with the ppl I've been playing on there, and we've been playing together for quite a few months now .... anyway, nwn's mp isnt bad, it has its up and its down, mostly ups if you ask me. So I would say my first choice on a game for rp would be nwn, eq would come as a close second.

As far as Bloodlines goes, from what I've seen and read seems good, I like the first person aspect, makes things different, dont know if there will be a mp on it, nonetheless, would be something good to try out.

Well I can tell you what Bloodlines is going to be like. 6 Months ago Renee LaTroue and Myself had the same idea and both being programmers and be good hearted people went to white wolf asking for the rights to develope a new version of the game much like Ultima Online. Renee asked a few weeks before I did but the results where both the same.

-ouch- we got or hands smacked for just asking but from what I read it seems they took are advice from what I found out about it. Bloodlines will be much like Everquest and Ultima online. The actual game is ran on the server you just purchase the software to connect to the server. This is good and bad.

Bad dont expect to make any mods for it because you wont have the source code or the access to do it. Also you probably have to pay a monthly fee to play online in multiplayer game. Sorry but that is the way the industry has gone and mostly the way multiplayer games will be in the future.

Good if they do, do this way they can make changes to the game at anytime and when ever you connect to the server it will automaticlly install new patches and versions of the game. But it wont be out for awhile and ideas seem to change. Besides Im not giving them the code I already written for my version awhile back unless they pay me millions and millions of dollars

But if they elimate the hacking and slashing and make it more roleplayer friendly I would be game to start up playing on line in a game with you all.

well thats my two cents on the matter

Well DAoC is primarily Hack 'n' Slash......kill shit to get experience to gain levels and skills to be able to kill more shit to get more exp yada yada....

Some of the new quests (with Shrouded Isles expansion) are very long winded if you are an exp freak, but they are great if you enjoy the odd bit of immersion and RP....

Anyway, having reactivated my account a couple of months ago....I ran into a group of peeps yesterday....true RP'ers!!! They have about 40 odd people in their guild and they Roleplay the WHOLE game and pretty well too I might add!

So my point is this.....

Doesn't matter what the game is "supposed" to be for, if it creates a good setting....therein lies the potential for us to create our own RP environment. It's the players who REALLY make the game experience, an empty Multiplayer world would be boring as hell lol.

Let's not get too excited about it. We all know that the won.net rooms are dead. And other than ourselves, I can't see many players vying for Roleplaying over gunplay :?

Besides, there'll be a limited number of skins to choose from. Let's just wait and see before we all start planning a SoC revival in game.
