Post subject:  Upcoming Server Downtime

At some point most likely this week, there will be some site downtime as I am decommissioning this server and moving everything on to a newer better faster one.

I can't give specifics of when, or for how long, as I have to fit this around proper (ie paying customers) work, so it will be down without warning and back up when it's done. Accordingly, don't panic if the site goes missing. It will be back probably within 24 hours (potentially much sooner).

I shall kinda miss old Mort, my good and faithful server, which has hosted us for many years now, but it's time for him to retire to the great server room in the sky and allow the newly comissioned 'Devil Child of Mort' to take his place.

Might I recommend "Bastard Child of Mort"?

EDIT: Thanks for the heads up buddy. Good to know.

The downtime has been put back, probably sometime this week.

I've only got as far as the basic linux install on the new server, I still need to install webserver, php, blahblahblah, so I'm a bit behind.

Maybe I'm the only one still doing it this way... but has anyone else noticed that typing in 'vampirerp.com' no longer directs you to this site? When you google for say... Cascadia vampire, SoC is one of the top 3ish (if not first), and it's the same URL and everything, but without the www I suppose it doesn't pick up the proper redirect.

Trivial concern I know, but I just noticed it a week or so ago. Thank you for taking care of the site the way you do, appreciation couldn't be further from an understatement than the service you provide us all.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I've fixed it, but it will probably take the Internet 24-48 hours to catch up on account of DNS cacheing.
