Measha zipped down the scent trail of the vermin monster. She was not sure why she cared about the stupid kitten, she just did. Something about leaving the moronic fluff ball to the clutches of the rats seemed wrong. Maybe it was only because the rats took the idiot thing from her. So in the end, it probably had nothing to do with care for the kitten, but only her own self-centeredness that something she wanted to use was taken from her. Either way, she followed after the rat and then stopped dead in the middle of a square. St. Etienne Du Mont..... she was back in Paris, not that she knew the name of the city or even the church for that matter, she just knew exactly where she was. That would make things easier.

She sniffed around the sewer grate where the scent disappeared and pondered what that meant. She looked over at the cafe on the corner and, feeling the first pangs of hunger, trotted over there for some handouts. They were usually quite good there. AFter munching on a bit of some fish she went back and sat down at the sewer grate. She was too big to get down there. Cocking her head from side to side she tried to figure out how to get in. She caught a scent coming from the grating that she had smelled someplace else as well. Where had she smelled it? Where.... had.... she.... smelled.... it? All she knew was that she had and that it was near the flowing water by the big old stone building with the wierd things sticking out from the walls. She started walking north towards the Seine and the bank on the opposite side of Notre Dame. Underneath one of the bridges she found what she was looking for.... a pipe. IT was big enough for her but was kind of stinky. By this time she didn't even remember what it was she was looking for, just that she needed to find the source of the smell. When she got there she would remember what she was going to do. That was the way it always worked, no reason to think it would not work that way again. She poked her nose into the pipe and sniffed and then took her first steps into the underground world of the vile vermin monster.

Measha crept further into the darkness, her toreador senses picking up on many subtlies that a normal feline would not notice. The scent of the vile rat monster seemed to cast a greenish haze. She slinked along the trail until she came to a part where the pipe ran steeply down towards the sound of rushing water somewhere in the darkness. Gingerly placing her fuzzy white paws down in the muck, step by step, she made her way down into the gloom.

Measha came into the main lair of the stinking vermin. Ugh.... the stench was nearly unbearable. She could hear the little kitten crying. the little fluff ball sounded healthy, just scared. Measha slinked along the wall and spied a rather large rat... and another... and another. They hadn't seen her yet.

She let out a low guttural growl and they turned to face her. They didn't even have time to let the fear register on their disgusting rat faces as the beautiful killer ripped out their innards with razor sharp claws. Measha charged deeper into the lair and heard a change in accoustics from behind her. The tunnel behind her was no longer empty; there were now rats and mice both in front of her and behind. She decided to press onwards. SHE ruled Paris, not this dreadful abomination.

She met more and more rat minions who charged her savagely. With her natural feline grace and her enhanced ghoul speed and strength, she had little difficulty in ending their miserable existances. All the better. Measha got a savage gleam in her eye as she pressed on smelling blood. Being an animal already, she didn't have far to fall to succumb to her basest rages. With rat and mouse guts smeared all through her fur, she pressed ever downwards until she was face to face with a small mob of rodents surrounding the vilest of the vile. An enormous rat with tusks and other ghastly protrusions. So this was the monstrousity himself. She had never before seen him quite clearly. Off in the corner she saw the little kitten try to run to her side. Several hulking rats stopped the little thing and sent her cowering back into her little corner.

Measha whirled around to face the new menace. It did not seem to be in league with Big Mousey. Moreover, Big Mosey seemed genuinely upset about it. The new menace was moving towards her adopted kitten. She could not have that. With the fierocity of a thunderstorm, she flashed at the badger thingy. Not that she knew what a badger was. She could see Big Mousey attacking at the same time. The two powerful animals ripped the new intruder to pieces. Blood sprayed everywhere. They took their own lumps to be sure, but eventually they came out on top.

The blood tasted funny. It didn't have the usual tang. This almost tasted rotten. What WAS this thing? The little kitten came over and hid beneath Measha's furry body. She turned her attention back to Big Mousey. He did not seem to be making any threatening overtures. Perhaps some form of detante had just been reached. Measha flapped down over top of the Kitten and watched to see what Big Mousey would do.
