The dagger shaped letter opener tore through the thin vanilla envelope with ease. Gabriel glanced at the return address once more. Las Angeles huh? Who did HE know in Las Angeles?
He read over the letter with disgust, his lips drawn into a frown. F*cking Kindred, a Ventrue should KNOW better than to send such things through the mail...the REGULAR mail!! He sighed, tossing the letter down onto his felt green blotter and glanced over the blurred surveillance photo once more.
He didn't recognize the Kindred in the picture, but he sure as hell wasn't going to go snooping and spending his valuable resources for some California Ventrue. He had seen and been disgusted by the things they did to Adrianna.

"Roxanne huh?" he muttered to himself, reaching over to turn off his small desk lamp. The light snapped off with a click! and the blue glow from the moon filled the small study.
Gabriel sat there for some time, contemplating what he should do about this situation. He would have to suggest to the Primogen that no action was taken until further notice. He leaned forward and pressed the small speaker button on his phone. He hit Fredrick's office number, and the phone responded with a muffled sound, Fredrick picked up the phone nearly instantaneously.

"Aye Gabriel?" his tinny voice called out over the speaker.

"Fredrick, what ghouls do we have to spare?" There was the sound of papers shuffling as Fredrick glanced through his files.

"Aaah.....lets see. Francis," Francis was a ghoul that they had acquired a few months back while the Cappadocian/Ventrue Clan war had threatened to break loose. He was part of a large enlistment of foot soldiers on Gabe's part, "Susan, oh and Thomas."

"Alright, I want to see Susan and Francis within the evening if possible. I have a task for them."

"I'll get in contact with them sir."

"Thanks Fredrick." another click and then a dial tone. Gabriel sat back in his leather office chair, the hinges creaking slowly.

46 hours, twenty three minutes, two plane tickets, $572.14, and 13 "real" Bloody Mary's later Francis and Susan stepped off the midnight flight into Las Angeles International.

((okay i'll post more later  ghouls on the prowl!!!

Francis had been a dry cleaner before, before he had met Fredrick. Susan worked as a social worker. Both now kept the same day jobs, but let a disguised night time life of service.
Francis pushed a long strand of curly brown hair from in front of his eyes and stared down at his plane ticket once more, examining the false name.

"Jonathan Mitchell," he muttered, looking at Susan who was walking rapidly towards the rental car service desk. She was to be his supposed wife, here visiting old friends. Her name was to be Janet Mitchell, maiden name Darcy.

"We'd like to rent a car." Susan said almost mechanically. Francis stood nearby, examining the characters passing through the terminal. She made the proper arrangements and within several minutes time they held the keys to their rental car.

"You have the address?" Susan asked, eyes straight ahead on her goal in the parking lot, the Red Cougar at the far end.

"Uh...of course." Francis mumbled, placing his suitcase under his arm and fumbling around in his coat pocket. He produced a small crinkled piece of paper with several numbers scrawled on it.

"Good. Alright, hold onto it. We're going to the hotel." she said, stopping at the drivers door of the car and hitting the car's small alarm control. The Cougar chirped and there was the sound of locks clicking open.
Francis walked reluctantly to the passengers side and opened the door, climbing into the car's plush interior. The car roared to life and jolted forward before he even had a chance to close the door all the way.

* * *

An hour later they were unpacking their suitcases in a small, cramped hotel room. Susan had, of course, taken the bed by the window. She sat on the floor next to the bed, dillegently searching through her cell phone directory for the contact Fredrick had gave her. Upon finding it she pressed the call button and raised the phone to her ear.

"Yes, it's me. Alright. Alright. 203. Okay. Excellent." she hung up the phone and placed it on the bed next to her few belongings. Unzipping her suitcase she took out a pair of high powered binoculars and pushed one of the heavy curtains open slightly and glanced at the office like building across the road.

"What're you looking at Su....Janet?" Francis asked tenderly, taking a step towards her.

"Her office building. That's where the break in took place. Now get ready, he'll be here soon."

"Who will?"

"Our contact."

the building across the street showed no activety. No one came, and no one left. As evening approached and the other buildings lights came on, the building they were observing remained dark and deserted.
