Wayan walks through the moonlit harbour staring out over the dark waters. Rats scurry too and fro around some cargo crates nearby as he exhales the tobacco smoke of the half smoked cigarette. That was the only sound that could be heard besides the sway of the waters below and the cool breeze skimming across them. He was alone which was how he liked it. He had been back in Cascadia for a month or 2 now but had decided to keep a low profile. He had no friends as so to speak in his vampire world so none would miss his company. Besides he saw many changes happening around him and rather than be in the middle of them he preferred to watch and observe from the sidelines. This was a lesson he had learnt in his mortal life. His real father had been a Martial Artists trainer and from a very early age had been training Wayan too. The basic rule of martial arts is to Defend ones self. The best way to defend from attack is to know your enemy well, but for them you must be an enigma keeping them ever guessing your next move while you read there’s like a book. This is a sound strategy, which he had been putting into practice since his return. He had no enemies, or none that he had observed in the kindred society that viewed him with hostility, although the under laying distrust for him was apparent from most. This he was starting to take as the norm, after all he was a Giovanni. Just because right now he had no enemies this by no means meant that in the future tensions and rivalries couldn't produce, better to be ready for them than for them just to occur. Besides no other group of Kindred in the city viewed him as a threat, he was solo, he had no others like him in the city so his power base was feeble and not really much to fear.

This was a fact that he wanted to change as soon as possible. His title of primogen of the Giovanni was a joke, he had no one to control bar himself, so it was time he changed this fact. He had held off so far as he did not know what the provisions were for creating another creature of darkness. Now he knew better and could sire a childe at his convenience with permission from the prince of course but that was not what was holding him back. He remembered the turmoil of his change and was still wrestling with the thought of putting that burden on someone else. Also he was Giovanni, but still did not fully know what it was to be Giovanni. With no sire around to teach him he doubted he would ever know, all he had to guide him was his impulses and desires that were blood driven.

These thoughts play through his minds as he takes the last pull from the cigarette discarding the butt into the sea. Maybe it was time he stopped worrying about these things. You are Primogen, you can run your clan anyway you see fit. Besides if you sire your clan, which one of them is to know what it means to be real Giovanni, you can mould and shape them as you see fit, as you wish to lead them. With this thought a smile spread across his lips. This thought appealed to him immensely, what power that would give him over his followers. And after all this is what a Giovanni craves more than anything, power. He knew this from the zeal he received every time he made a sale to his drug driven mortal customers, the power he had over them was instantly satisfying to him. Four months he had been selling drug to the mortal residents of Cascadia. Noting big as of yet, a few kilos of powder here and there, to the lower band drugs such as cannabis or party drugs such as ecstasy. Nothing seriously major but enough for him to make a nice substantial bit of money the past 6 months. It was also on such a small scale it didn't cause ripples anywhere in Cascadia. He doubted anyone besides him and his customers knew what he was doing, kindred included. That was the way he wished it to stay too for the foreseeable future. Besides if all went well the next few months by the time the other inhabitants of his nighttime world knew he was on the rise it would be too late, as he would have already risen.

((great post Wayan, one thing though, the way some of us run it is for every PLAYER you have you get 10 or so NPC's. For instance in all there are 5 Ventrue members, therefor in Cascadia there are 55 Ventrue or so. It's up to you I suppose, that's the way we've always done it.

He looked at his watch checking the time. Grrr he' s late. His mouth grimace at this, he couldn't stand lateness, but he knew that this was what he was like and had always been like. He was of course referring to his acquaintance he was waiting for. For the past few weeks, since his trip back to England he had been meeting the same guy here to pick up his weekly wares. Vidal was the guy’s name, an old mortal friend of his from his hometown. They had grown up together. Broken many laws together, and up until 5 years ago when Wayan moved to the states him and one other had been the best of friends. His mind drifts once more back to previous memories.

...Knock... knock ...knock was the sound that rapped on the door.
"Come in,” said a low deep voice with a London accent.
In Wayan walked closing the door behind him. He surveyed the room quickly instantly recognising all faces in it. At the desk in the middle of the room was of course the guy whose voice had motioned him in. In two of the three chairs that were facing the desk were the faces of 2 of his life long friends. Vidal and Dorran. These three, Wayan, Vidal and Dorran had hung around with each other for as long as either of them could remember. They knew they could count on each other and trusted each other with their lives. This was probably why all three of them had been summoned at the same time as they all worked so well with each other. They were defiantly the flavour of the month in their bosses’ eyes.

Wayan took his seat in between his 2 friends and let his eyes wander to the man at the other side of the table. He looked like a sitting goliath. His shoulders were wide and obviously brimming with power. His hairless head had little bead lets of sweat, which glistened on his black skin. His face had an impressive scare on his right check that only added to his menacing looks. Wayan wondered who had been brave enough to give him this scare in the first place. Needless to say the guy who had given it to him was probably 6ft under somewhere. The Boss was not know for taking shit from anyone so Wayan felt safe that if he betted his life on this fact he would be correct. His thoughts were interrupted by the big mans words. Wayan listened intently.

((Yawn, 2am gotta sleep i'll post some more tommorrow night night

((that's interesting Gabriel, obviously the Ventrue and the Assamites have extra NPCs that they use throughout Cascadia but the Cappadocians don't. What you see is what you get... but that works well for our clan since technically we are suppose to be few in numbers...

((the only reason I have some NPC's is because of the guard duties and stuff if it were not for those the only NPC's I would have would be the guards in the Assamite haven although I am waiting for the new Assamite to post something on the board))

3 hours later the 3 friends sat in a car driving to the location they had been given. It turns out the Boss wanted them to deliver a case to some guys in exchange for another case. It was not there concern to know what was in the case just to make sure they made the switch. This was the first time the 3 of them had had something like this to do. They were usually the ones asked to brake into places as they were more the thief types than the common thug but this would defiantly increase there station to there boss which intern meant more money and power for them which was a goal they all shared. Being 20 and making money was all that was on there mind and so far the crime game had been good for them, ‘Money, Bitches, power’ As Dorran was so readily to state at the drop of a dime quoting from his favourite hip hop stars, where readily available to them due to there lifestyle.
'Time to leave the kiddie gloves behind and get down to some gansta shit'... was the words the boss had used to encourage them to go on this job, which at the time had distilled Wayans sense of being in over there heads. His early doubts were only fuelled by the metal object he felt hung round his shoulder. This was the first time he had ever carried a live piece before. The boss said they could be necessary if things went bad but he couldn't see that happening. This troubled him. He had of course seen and held a gun, even fired one but just messing around, or target practice with the boys, never anything serious, and here he was about to go into a potential dangerous situation with which he may have to rely on it. He was unsure weather he would have the bottle to use it or not. Seeing the trouble looked in Wayans face Dorran turned to his friend with a smile and said.
"Hey braaaa, no need to worry man, you got us 2 right here with you and you know we gots your back. No need to worry things are just plain sailing, besides shit.... us 3 can handle anything right???..... Alright then just cool out bud, we'll be there in a minute time to put your game face on."

With these words Wayan knew things would be cool. Besides they had been through so much shit together he knew that even if all hell broke lose these guys would be there right behind him as he would in turn for them, this gave him all the strength he needed.

The car pulled up outside the abandon warehouse used for the transaction. Oh great a place in the middle of nowhere, Wayan thought. The 3 friends got out of the car and headed for the warehouse. Dorran had been given the case to hold so Wayan stayed behind him and to his side stood Vidal. They entered the structure.

As they entered Wayan immediate noticed the guys they had come to meet. They were stood round a black limo in the middle of the warehouse. Usually the limo would have impressed him, as he has not seen many people bar the boss driving them, they weren't the most common choice of vehicle in the North of England. This however wasn't in his mind at all at this time. What was however was the fact there were six of them, and he was sure he could see the outline of a shotgun under one of there coats. This instantly made that unease feeling return. He did his best not to show it though, the sunglasses he had on his face probably did that for him hiding the initial shock his eyes had portrayed.

His eyes continued to survey the place looking for any more surprises. Lucky the rest of the place was as you would expect, nothing more than crates and transfer forklift vehicles. This made the uneasy feeling subside a little, he had sworn to himself if he had seen any more people he would have just bolted as he really had a bad feeling about this, but that was not to be. The three guys continued towards the vehicle to complete the transaction. There was a moment of looking each other up and down, a short uncomfortable silence then Dorran broke the silence and spoke.

"So you got the case?"

A silver headed older looking fellow pushed his way through the guys to speak. This made the previous count Wayan had made off by one, there infact were seven of them.

"Yes my young friend we have our case" the guy said in an accent much like the bosses.

"Cool.. Well let’s get this shit over with then we aint got all day" Dorran replied in a cocky but calm manor. It must be Dorran didn't share Wayans concerns but then again he was a little younger by about a year plus he was more down with this type of lifestyle, he had always been the more gangsta loving one of the group.

"Of course" the man said with a smirk. He turned round and headed back toward the limo. Wayans eyes followed him expecting the man to get to the limo and retrieve the case then turn round. This however didn't happen. The man reached the limo got in and closed the door.

"Hey what the fucks this shit" Dorran said obviously annoyed.

At this the limos window winds down a little. The mans voice can be heard from within.
" Next time my young friend I suggest you speak with more respect, oh wait they wont be a next time for you I am tired of your boss and his deals time we renegotiate, Mario take care of this". With this the window winds back up again.

The three friends were obviously in shock and didn't fully know what was going on Dorran was the first to react he quickly reached for his piece, the pause between the time it took him to respond however meant that he was barely able to let off a shot before Mario had lift the shotgun and unload it into Dorrans mid rift. Dorrans body was lifted a few feet off the floor. Wayan flung himself behind a crate his body ached as it smashed with the concrete but this was the least of his worries his mind was racing as he pulled his piece. Everything that was happening around him seemed to be going in slow motion. He managed to see Vidal hidden behind a crate just opposite from him. His piece was drawn and he was already popping shots over the top of his cover. The fact they both were still alive amazed him. Obviously the opposing guys didn't know that there boss was going to do this or they would have been quicker to react, and it is more than likely all 3 of them would be dead right now. Thankfully there delay had been just as long to react, all except Mario’s. This delay had given Wayan and Vidal time to find cover. Unfortunately though the same could not be said for Dorran. His body lay lifeless in between the space between Wayans and Vidal’s vantage points. Wayans eyes were transfixed upon his best friends lifeless body. They would never again laugh, go drinking get laid, smoke, or anything together. All the moments that them 2 had shared between there lives flashed through Wayans memory in an instant. The birthdays, the party’s, the joys and the pains that they had shared together had shaped both their lives and now Dorran was gone.
This realisation sent his mind into a rage. He was no longer in control of his mind or his actions all he could see was his dead friends face.

Bullets were flying everywhere. This didn't even bother Wayan, he had lost all his sense of reason and instead was filled with uncontrollable rage. He stood and began to walk toward the limo. Firing at anything he saw move. Unbeknown to his state of mind at the time but Vidal had already taken out 2 of the guys from his vantage point. That left 4 between him and the limo. Wayan continued to let his bullets fly as he walked towards his target.
1.. 2. 3...4.. 5...bullets fired one guy who was stood in front of the limo fell to the floor with multiple shots in his chest. There was a look of disbelief in his dying eyes as his body slumped to the floor. The other 2 other guys who had been previously concentrating there fire on Vidal’s vantage point saw there comrade drop and instantly turned to return fire. This was a fatal mistake for one of them as this change of stance and lack of pressure gave Vidal enough of a window of opportunity to end the guys life with multiple shots landing in different body areas. The remaining guy Started letting off shots at the approaching Wayan. 2 bullets flew just past him as a third landed firmly in Wayans left shoulder. If this had of been his gun hand Wayan certainly would have lost his gun but as it happens it was not. The bullet sent Wayans torso turning slightly behind the impact. Of course he felt it but with this wave of rage over him the pain seemed to be nothing more than a hindrance as Wayan continued forward with nothing but a broken step due to his bullet wound. He turns his gun on the guy who just fired at him pressing the trigger repeatedly as he does so. Fortunately for him the guy who fired at Wayan was all out of bullets and began to make a duck for cover, he was too late though as Wayans 8th 9th and 10th shot bury into his back, the 6th and 7th shot being lost somewhere in the distance it took him to change his aim.

The last man seeing his other friends dead and the tides of battle now changed leaving him one against 2 drops his gun and leaps to safety behind some crates as Vidal pins him there with shots from his gun.

Wayan continues towards the car. Firing his remaining shots into the blacked out limousine window. The sound of glass smashing as the 5 remaining bullets rip into the limo. Then comes the click.. click sound of no ammo left. This click sounds for 8 attempts until Wayan finally recovers some sort of sanity and stops firing realising he is out of bullets. He peers into the now none exsistant window and sure enough is the silver headed guy now dead with 2 shots having hit him to the side of the head while the other 3 strayed into the surrounding cars upholstery.

Wayan stands there just looking motionless for a moment or two. Vidal finally joins him. He seems relatively calm. As he has not yet taken the time to look at Dorran, there fallen friend. He does so now. Tears swell up in his eyes as the realisation that Wayan had moments earlier now takes its time to hit him. The rage of what happen builds up in him as he looks around widely for someway to relieve it. His eyes stop on the unarmed thug hiding behind a crate hoping for his life that he has been forgotten. Unfortunately Vidal has not forgotten him and with his rage uncontrollable he heads over to the unarmed man.

The thug covers shield himself behind his arms like you would expect from a child who is about to receive punishment for doing wrong...

"... I... I... I was only following orders..." The Thug feebly pleads. But his cries fall on deaf ears as Vidal begins to kick and stamp with all his might.

The thug cries out in pain and whimpers as kick upon kick connect with his body. Finally Vidal’s foot find its way to the thug’s temple and all becomes silent. The Thug lays motionless either dead or unconscious, no matter though the result is still the same as Vidal continues to kick. A few kicks later and Vidal begins to tire so he emptied his clips last 2 bullets into the thugs skull. He then falls spent to his knees, dropping his Gun he cries inconsolably.

Wayan still stands looking at his fallen friend. Tears stream down his face finally dropping to the floor mixing with the crimson red pool of blood that is starting to form from the blood coming from Wayans very own shoulder. With the rage subsided the pains true form kicks in as Wayan falls to the floor shouldering his shoulder. He feels rather weak from the lack of blood but manage to stand. Vidal now walks over more composed and helps him to his feet. “Come on Bud lets get out of here.” They both stand, Vidal grabs the case and passes it to Wayan, seens as he is in no shape to carry Dorran he can certainly carry the case. Vidal grabs his fallen friends corpse and begins to drag it to their car. Wayan helps as best as he can as all three friends leave the building.

This was the event that caused Wayan to leave England in the first place. After seeing his friend die and nearly dieing himself he no longer wanted that life. So he left for America. The boss wasn't happy of course, but he knew he couldn't say anything. He was the boss but he knew the 3 friends loved each other like brothers, having friends like that himself he knew what it would mean if he went through the same thing so let him go without question. Besides Wayan had saved him a lot of money by killing the scum that tried to cheat him, now he could move in on his turf. He owed him for that.

That was the last time he had seen the boss or Vidal but when he went back to England for his mothers funeral. He looked up Vidal again. He now was in charge of the area, the boss had moved onto bigger things. Hearing that Vidal was the one who was looking after Wayans little brother and was his boss he thought he better speak to him. He knew Vidal would never let anything happen to his sibling but wanted to make sure Vidal was still the man he used to be. Needing some way to get the power he craved he also managed to strike up a deal with his long time friend to start up there dealings in the States, The City of Cascadia being the focal point. He then had gone on to make up some sort of story of what he had been doing in the states. He couldn't tell his friend about what had really happened to him of course. No matter how much he wanted to. Being the friends they were though Vidal agreed anyway, no questions asked. And so here he was waiting for Vidal’s ship to come in at the docks. Maybe in a year or 2 he could turn Vidal anyway. They would be a formidable paring. Not yet however. There is much that needs to be done first.

His thoughts are interrupted there as the familiar voice of his long time friend comes into earshot.

"Hello their old Friend" Vidal says with a smile.

He turns and smiles to his friend then the 2 friends hug in an embrace. Strangely enough Wayan still feels the love he felt for his friend even after his turning. They are obviously some bounds that death cannot break.

" Come old friend we have much to discuss." Wayan says as he leads him off into Cascadia's nighttime air.
